CHALLENGE
AlignOne is an online service offered by Clark Consulting in which a benefit plan
participant can log on to a protected site to access their fund information and
benefits summary. The logo and website had been in place for some time but
were in dire need of a facelift. In addition to updating the look of the site there
were usability and content organization issues that needed to be addressed.
SOLUTION
A more professional logo was designed which incorporated elements of the
main Clark Consulting brand. While this helped upgrade the application,
further brainstorming was needed to determine the best solution for improving
site usability. The navigation options were grouped and significantly consolidated —
rather than having one intimidating list along the left side of the page we created
a top navigation bar with only four categories. The categories and pulldowns were
grouped in an intuitive manner, which allowed for more screen real estate for
other essential features. A breadcrumb trail and tabs were used to notify the
user of their location on the site. The softer colors in Clark Consulting's color
palette were used to create a light, airy feeling which helps to simplify the
site's complex information.
RESULTS
The redesigned logo and look of the website have instantly upgraded the
impression its users have of Clark Consulting. We have received praise for the
website's ease of use and simplicity.
